Anna De Bekkar: Fashion Cannot Exist Without a Point of View

Saoirse Foley: Tradition, Identity, and the Road to Miss World Thailand

Our cover muse Anna De Bekkar holds a clear, controlled presence that doesn’t rely on attention. The same precision defines how she sees and speaks about fashion — structured, restrained, and exact.
In this conversation, she speaks openly about Moscow Fashion Week SS26, her work with the House of Slava Zaitsev, and her role within Bekkárde. Her position is consistent throughout: fashion requires authorship, otherwise it loses its meaning.

Anna, you recently attended Moscow Fashion Week SS26 – what moments or collections stood out to you the most, and how do you personally read the direction fashion is moving in right now?

To be completely honest, this Spring Season of Moscow Fashion Week SS26 left a rather disappointing impression on me—and I say this with full awareness that it is my subjective opinion.

A significant number of collections felt unconvincing, and, more critically, unmemorable. There was a lack of clarity in creative direction: silhouettes existed without purpose, styling often replaced substance, and many shows seemed to rely on a purely superficial impression rather than a fully formed idea. At times, it felt as though we were seeing repetitions of repetitions—echoes of past decades without any real reinterpretation or evolution.

What concerns me most is not even the aesthetic itself, but the absence of authorship. Fashion cannot exist without a point of view, yet many collections appeared anonymous, interchangeable. Technical execution alone is not enough—it must serve meaning, otherwise it becomes decorative, but empty.

In my personal view, only about five collections demonstrated a truly respectable level—where there was a clear narrative, a disciplined hand, and an understanding of proportion, timing, and identity. Those moments stood apart precisely because they did not try to impress—they knew what they were saying.

Overall, the Fashion Week felt fragmented and, at times, creatively stagnant. But again, I emphasize—this is my personal reading. I believe fashion today is at a turning point, and perhaps what we are witnessing is not failure, but a search. The question is whether that search will lead to depth—or remain on the surface.

You have collaborated with the legendary fashion house Slava Zaitsev – what did that experience bring to you creatively, and how did it influence your own vision?

Working with the House of Slava Zaitsev was not simply a collaboration—it was a dialogue with legacy. It teaches you that fashion is not created in isolation; it is built on memory, culture, and discipline.
What it gave me creatively was a deeper understanding of responsibility. When you wear a piece that carries history, you cannot be superficial—you must correspond to it internally. It is not about presenting a garment; it is about continuing a story.
It influenced my vision in a subtle but profound way: to seek depth over immediacy. To respect the line, the cut, the intention behind every detail. And most importantly—to understand that true elegance is never loud. It is precise, and it is conscious.

As the official face and Ambassador of the Bekkárde brand, what does this role represent for you beyond the title, and how do you embody its identity?

For me, this role is not representation—it is alignment.
To be the face of Bekkarde means to live within its codes, even beyond the frame. It is about integrity in presence, clarity in thought, and a certain inner discipline that is invisible but always felt.
You cannot “play” such a role. Either your internal state resonates with the brand, or it does not. What I embody is not an image, but a state—calm strength, selective expression, and an understanding that true identity does not require constant explanation.

How would you define the core concept of Bekkarde – is it more about aesthetics, philosophy, or a certain way of living?

Bekkárde is not only about aesthetics, although its visual language is distinct. And it is not only philosophy, although there is a clear intellectual foundation. It is closer to a way of being.
It speaks to those who choose depth over excess, precision over noise, and meaning over trend. It is about a person who does not seek validation externally, because their structure is already built within.
In that sense, Bekkarde exists not just in garments, but in decisions—in how one moves, speaks, and even remains silent.

Representing Khon Kaen as Miss World Khon Kaen carries both pride and responsibility — what does it mean to you to bring your province’s spirit onto the national stage as you move toward Miss World Thailand 2027?

Representing Khon Kaen is both an honor and a responsibility that I carry with great pride. It is where I was born and my hometown, a place that shaped my values and sense of identity. Khon Kaen is known for its strong sense of community, respect for Thai traditions, academic excellence through its leading universities, and rich cultural heritage such as Isan silk.

As I move toward Miss World Thailand 2027, bringing Khon Kaen onto the national stage means sharing the spirit of my home, one rooted in kindness, resilience, and cultural pride. I hope to represent not only a province, but also the people and values that raised me, with sincerity, purpose, and respect.

Looking ahead, what future projects excite you the most – whether in runway shows, collaborations, or your broader artistic journey?

What excites me is not a specific project, but the evolution of expression.
Runway shows, collaborations, film—these are all mediums. But the true interest lies in how far one can go in refining their own language. To reach a point where everything unnecessary falls away, and only essence remains.
There are, of course, upcoming works—both in fashion and in cinematic storytelling—but I prefer to reveal results, not intentions. Because anticipation is fragile, while a completed vision speaks for itself.
The future, for me, is not about expansion. It is about deepening.
