A life dedicated to caring for others takes many forms, and for Dr.Meghan Cyster, it extends far beyond the walls of her dental practice. As a wife, mother, business owner, healthcare professional, and Mrs South Africa 2026 finalist, she brings purpose and compassion into every role she embraces. Guided by a belief that education, opportunity, and kindness can transform lives, Meghan has made it her mission to empower others while leading by example. In this conversation, she reflects on the journey that has shaped her, the values that define her, and the legacy she hopes to leave for future generations.
As a Mrs South Africa 2026 finalist, you’re beginning an exciting new chapter. What has this experience added to your journey so far?
This has truly been an amazing journey of growth, purpose, and self-discovery. It has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, own my voice, and amplify my leadership in serving others with compassion and authenticity. This journey has held up a mirror and reminded me of who I am: bold and unapologetically me.
Dentistry is a profession built on trust, care, and compassion. What do you enjoy most about the work you do every day?
I enjoy the opportunity to connect with people every day from all walks of life. One of the most rewarding moments is seeing a patient smile with confidence following my treatment to improve their smile. I treasure these conversations and take the time to make my patients feel heard. This allows me to offer encouragement and a sense of hope. I often feel I have accomplished something far greater than simply doing my job.
Your platform is rooted in healthcare, education, and community upliftment. What inspired you to dedicate your voice to these causes?
I have witnessed how opportunity can shape one’s future, as I myself come from humble beginnings. Knowledge empowers and equips people to make informed decisions in life. Education opens doors, builds confidence, and creates opportunities. This has inspired me to use my voice to help build communities where people have the opportunity to thrive.
Family is clearly at the heart of your life. How has being a wife and mother shaped your perspective on success and fulfillment?
Success, to me, is measured by the impact we have on those around us, especially those closest to us, as well as the legacy we leave behind. My family has taught me that love, presence, patience, and resilience are among my greatest accomplishments. Fulfilment is knowing that I am raising kind, confident daughters, serving my community, and using every opportunity to make a positive difference.
You often speak about empowering women to recognize their worth. What message do you hope every woman takes away after meeting you or hearing your story?
I would love women to feel heard and to realise that it is never too late to choose growth, embrace your worth, and pursue your dreams regardless of your circumstances or the challenges you have faced. I hope to inspire them through the many roles I fulfil as a mom, wife, professional, business owner, and Mrs South Africa finalist. May they realise the potential they have to fulfil many roles, and that they do not have to choose between having a family and pursuing their dreams. We are more than capable.
Whether you’re caring for patients, supporting your community, or spending time with your family, kindness seems to be a constant in everything you do. What does kindness mean to you personally?
Kindness is about treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Looking ahead, what are you most excited to embrace in this next chapter of your personal and professional journey?
I am very excited for the opportunity to create a greater impact and continue growing into the best version of myself. I look forward to seeing the growth in my own daughters as I follow through on this journey.
Professionally I am excited to use my voice and advocate for better access to healthcare and education. I look forward to building meaningful partnerships, connections and changing conversations into actions. I aspire to leave a lasting legacy of hope, opportunity and positive change. As I step into this next chapter of my Mrs South Africa journey, I am excited to embrace every lesson, every connection, and every opportunity to challenge myself and make a meaningful impact.
This chapter represents growth, purpose, and possibility. Mrs. South Africa is more than a title, it is a platform to serve, inspire, and empower others, and I am honoured to continue this journey with passion, grace, and intention.
