Ginta, your voice is called strong and velvety – is this how nature rewarded you, or is it the result of hard work?
Behind every skill there’s a craft, I’d say. Mine is no exception. Working on my vocal personality has been a journey, which started when I was a toddler, and it’s far from over. You can learn the theory of music and practice vocal exercises, but nobody really teaches how to get that unique sound that makes you – you. To work as a singer with record labels you must have a recognizable voice, this is your main asset. That kind of sound that a listener can instantly recognize and know who the singer is. I did experiment a lot to find it and it took some time to refine a deep, soulful, and powerful sound.
When did you realize that you love music and want to be a performer? Tell us about yourself.
I have a strong passion for music and have been writing songs since I was a kid. I later went on to study sound engineering in Milano, Italy and after graduation, I started working with major record labels worldwide – Milan, Paris, London, and Los Angeles. I felt lucky to work with such major labels as Warner and Universal music and to have the opportunity to travel and discover new cultures, new perspectives, and approaches to music production. I’m currently signed with Sony Entertainment and have my own production company, where I make my records, DJ sets, and music for rising talents.
I find inspiration in traveling and exploring different cultures. I believe that music has the power to stop time and transport people to different places, convey different emotions. I am fortunate to have worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry and have been recognized throughout my career, but I also understand that this is a profession where you need to continuously learn and evolve. The last award I received is Best Entertainment Account from World Influencer Awards (WIBA).
Having a mom that is a stylist (Viola Ambree), I’ve been quite a lot into fashion as a teenager. My first glimpse into this fascinating world was modeling in Milan and Paris from the age of ten. It shaped me as an adult and gave me valuable insights into the industry. From knowing how to pose and have a stage presence, to observing trends on the runway and developing the discipline it takes to succeed. These lessons taught me some skills that I still use today, especially for album covers, music videos, and social media content creation.
I’ve been a judge on an Italian prime-time TV show “All Together Now” for four seasons. The experience of sharing my know-how of the industry on a national channel and helping other talents to emerge was an extraordinary experience.
My new single “Hallelujah” (Smash Deep / Sony Music Publishing) is out now on all digital platforms. It’s a rendition of the iconic Leonard Cohen’s track, produced by the Swiss electronic guru Suark. We both come from the same city in Switzerland, Lugano, but only met for the first time last year. We knew about each other from production teams we work with across the world and musicians really enticed us to work together. Sometimes you really have what you’re looking for just at your doorstep. I hope you’ll enjoy the song and the video as much as we do!
They say that success is 10% talent and 90% hard work. Does your experience confirm this?
Preparation, order, patience, endurance, acting in face of fear and failure – there can be no excuses. This is what it takes to be successful in no matter what field. I do not wait for inspiration to hit, I show up and do my work.
A calling, a passion becomes a profession, then with professionalism comes success.
I am constantly looking for new ways to bring something special to my audience and create a unique aesthetic for every experience. From experimenting with virtual reality, augmented reality, and holograms in music videos, to 3D sound binaural audio recordings – I’m always pushing the boundaries of entertainment. The key, besides working hard, is believing in what I’m doing and surrounding myself with the right team who share my vision.
Keep pushing your limits and remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.
What would you wish our readers in the coming year 2023?
I invite readers to a challenge – do something new every day! Trying new things is often a great way to learn more about yourself and gain experiences that will stay with you for life. In my own journey of exploration, each experience has brought something different, allowing me to step out of my comfort zone and take on challenges I never thought I would have the courage to do. But as they say, fear it and do it anyway!
Some days it can be challenging to find something new, but it can simply be a different way of doing a task or taking a different road to the office. You’ll be surprised how many new passions and directions you’ll find on the way, and some might stick with you forever.
