You’ve built a strong presence in fashion and travel—what drives your confidence to carve your own path rather than follow traditional expectations?

Coming from a small, traditional village in China, I was deeply influenced by the gender roles of women in Chinese society. Women were expected to be subservient to men, fulfilling their roles as daughters, wives, and mothers. For a girl, being raised to be the perfect wife and seeing a good marriage as her primary goal was the norm. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to receive a good education and had the opportunity to study at the University of Munich and Boston University, which greatly shaped my determination to define my own identity—not just as a daughter, wife, or future mother. It’s amazing how my world has expanded in the pursuit of simply being myself. Fashion is one way I express myself, my perception of beauty, and my sense of identity and affiliation. It conveys my personal tastes and cultural values.

Many still believe a woman’s ultimate role is to be a wife or mother. How do you challenge that idea through your work and lifestyle?

I believe women have the right to define their own paths and aspirations, whether that includes marriage, motherhood, a career, or education. As a modern woman in the workplace, I have worked hard to achieve my professional goals in the finance sector. I am a private banker and financial planner. I commit myself to continuous learning and self-improvement, always striving to stay up-to-date and provide the best advice to my clients. In my personal relationships, I strive for equality and mutual respect, which means sharing household responsibilities, supporting each other’s ambitions, and making important decisions together as a family.

What moments in your journey as a blogger and influencer made you realize you are in control of your own narrative?

As a blogger and influencer, I realized that my voice and perspective resonated with a large audience. Being able to post anything I want and having the creative freedom to share my daily life and the ups and downs I face as a girl navigating between social stereotypes and self-identity has garnered various feedback and testimonials. Over time, we’ve formed a community of like-minded individuals who support and amplify women’s celebration of diversity. This community has become a space where women’s voices are heard and serve as a guiding force.

How does fashion empower you to express your independence and confidence?

In professional settings, fashion can be used to convey competence and authority. Dressing in a way that aligns with my professional goals has enhanced my confidence and helped me command respect. Meeting clients means wearing tailor-made suits and having tidy makeup, which greatly helps me assert my independence and confidence. Additionally, fashion can be used to celebrate my origin while expressing my personal style. Wearing traditional attire and incorporating traditional Chinese elements into my wardrobe sends a powerful message of pride in my roots. Colorful outfits showcase my outgoing and joyful characteristics, allowing me to communicate who I am without saying a word.

What advice would you give to women who feel pressured to fit into societal roles but dream of building their own identity?

As a girl from a small village in China who has fought my way to where I am today, my advice to women feeling pressured by societal roles and personal identity is:

Embrace Yourself Accept who you truly are and take time to understand yourself. Don’t be afraid to speak up about your desires and needs.

Educate Yourself Knowledge will bring women eternal strength, so keep yourself motivated to learn new things. Whether it’s formal education, online courses, or self-study, find time to gain knowledge and skills that will empower you on your journey of self-realization.

Take Action Start now and take small, consistent steps toward your goals. Progress may be slow, but each step counts and brings you closer to building the identity you dream of.

Seek Support Remember, “You are not alone”! Together, we are stronger. Raise your voice if you need help—I believe you will be surrounded by thousands of other supportive people. Building your own identity is a journey, not a destination. It requires patience, resilience, and courage. By staying true to yourself and persistently pursuing your dreams, you can create a life that reflects your unique identity and fulfills your deepest aspirations.
