What fascinates her plastic surgery, how she came to the profession and what she dreams about, Dr. EIRINI ZAGKOU told in her exclusive interview
Dr. EIRINI, How did you get interested in medicine?
Starting at the age of 18, I began spending my summers and free time after university at a public hospital in Milan and UK.
There, I began assisting in surgery and performing surgery at the age of 18. I still remember vividly the first day I came to the operating room. I knew then, that surgery was my passion, and what I was destined to do.
Where did you receive your education?
I am started medical school in Slovakia and after her initial training, Dr. Zagkou was able to get an idea of what each specialty entailed. For me, it was very clear that surgery was the obvious choice. Upon graduation, I am went to the UK to start my medical education at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, has been in the UK for 4 years and the lasts 3 back to Greece.
What attracts you to plastic surgery?
I liked the immediate effects of your actions through surgery, the big difference that you can make to somebody’s life, and actually working with my hands was part of what I liked so much. I was born to be a surgeon and a healer and I want to dedicate my whole life to that purpose.
I am is focus on the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Field as practiced as ENT doctor in Greek Public Hospital. I prefer facelift procedures and any intervention that improves the quality of life.
There was never a moment I thought I would give up my career. If you’re a doctor, it’s not just a job – it becomes part of your nature.
What are you dreaming about?
I am is about to create her own line of skin care with her mother- as she is a pharmacist- we spend much time in our laboratory and planning line of beauty skin care.
The our aim is to create products that minimize people’s need to come into a clinic.
Tell me about your hobbies.
I have several of them, in rare moments of rest – these are piano playing, horse riding and playing tennis
