Yeva, you are now a creative director and a visual design expert in content and SMM. There’s a popular belief that this job has a low entry threshold, as it doesn’t require a university diploma and can be learned in a short course. Is it true? Do you do target analysis and targeting by yourself or is this a team effort?
In my humble opinion, becoming a Content Creator isn’t too hard. But this doesn’t mean a low threshold for entering the profession. My background includes a university degree, plenty of courses, experience in a production house (where I was creating ads for companies and brands), and, of course, a profound knowledge of professional software. And I could continue this list. However, I don’t think that everyone needs a diploma, but it gave me experience and knowledge that helped me a lot later on. The most important thing is your passion, your good taste and observation!
Before you start working in this sphere, you have to ask yourself a few questions:
First: Do I want to always be aware of what’s going on on Social Media? New music, new trends, etc. This is not just a job, this is genuine curiosity.
Second: Would you like to do this for yourself or for others? There are lots of naturally talented people but they are only passionate about promoting their own accounts.
As for me… I’m happy to do this for my clients. I’m especially motivated and inspired when they share with me the sales growth figures. It’s a huge job from strategy and branding to a monthly content calendar. But it always works. The clients just need to be patient.

P.S. And if you understand how to make beautiful, captivating content, it doesn’t mean that you’ll like working in this field. Most of my team, which consists of high-profile SMM managers, don’t work on their own behalf. And I know what it feels like. I am motivated when I do this for someone, and I really enjoy it.

It’s no secret that working with content on the Internet requires great flexibility, trends change in a heartbeat. Is it possible to predict what trends will conquer the audience tomorrow, or even find a way to set them?
Everything is possible. It can be you or someone in your team – a person who not only follows trends but also sets them. We can’t predict all trends that will go viral. In most cases, this is a natural, unexpected success. But I have to say, this is still it is a result of millions of attempts that no one pays attention to.

How did you decide to move to the UAE? Could you name the main advantages and downsides of living in this country?
Before the UAE, I was living in the Philippines. This is not my first relocation. I already knew what I want, what I like, and what are the deal-breakers.
I made the decision to move after my first 2 days in Dubai. To be completely honest, my last destination had to be in Asia. I was planning to stay in Singapore or Malaysia. But Covid all around the world has changed my route. So, I took a shot at Dubai.
This country is perfect for me at the moment. People who live and work here jokingly say that everyone lives in their own Dubai – this is how diverse it can be. It depends on what you are. Who you are. What intentions you have. This is exactly what you are going to attract.
Some people aren’t looking for anything, just trying to escape, but you can’t escape from yourself. For me, this is the perfect place. I don’t see things here that some other girls complain about. I have never been misunderstood. All my friends are multinational and multicultural but we share a similar mindset and weird sense of humor. But that’s a completely different story.
Dubai offers many opportunities to those who have unique knowledge or talents. Here you can get twice as many clients as in other countries. This is a very comfortable city. You can find any food, any products; the city is teeming with choice. All problems can be solved online, with the help of applications.
It’s multicultural. People who have lived abroad will understand what I mean. 80% of Dubai residents are foreigners.
And you don’t feel like a stranger here. People are more curious about you, more helpful, more respectful than in any other country. In turn, you must respect their rules. For example, disrespect to people and violence are considered reasons for deportation. But for me, it means only that this is the safest country to live in.
On the downside, this is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Even Europe in the tourist season seems so cheap after Dubai. And it’s super hot. Six months a year it is a sauna outdoors.
